What is the Streemfire Playout?

Streemfire is a type of cloud-based video management technology used by broadcasters and media companies to create professional, linear live TV channels. This technology is generally referred to as playout , whereas Streemfire distinguishes itself from other platforms by providing a playout that resides in the cloud. Depending on system requirements, the Streemfire playout can be deployed fully over the cloud or partially integrated into local hardware.

The Streemfire playout also comes equipped with other technical features, such as the aggregation of multiple media elements (live inputs, pre-recorded videos, graphic overlays), and the concatenated creation of linear television streams based on a precise schedule. The Streemfire playout outputs (RTMP, DASH, HLS, HSS, RTSP, MPEG TS, UDP) are automatically broadcasted to any OTT, CDN, IPTV or satellite-/cable-headend.

Do I need any specific hardware to use the Streemfire Playout?

End-to-end workflow is managed entirely in the web browser; therefore, any standard computer with access to the internet and a web browser installed is more than capable of running a TV channel on the Streemfire playout.

Whereas the standard subscription packages run entirely on the cloud, there are alternative configurations available for the partial integration of the Streemfire playout into local TV infrastructures.

Where will I see my TV channel?

The Streemfire playout generates 24/7 linear live TV streams that are ready to be distributed to any OTT, CDN, IPTV or satellite-/cable-headend. Stream recipients are not included with the services offered by Streemfire and must be acquired separately. Streemfire’s most common user requests are streams to YouTube Live, Akamai, Livestream, Dacast, Twitch, and IBM Live.

Do I need any industry knowledge to use the Streemfire playout platform?

No broadcast expertise knowledge is needed to run a TV channel on the Streemfire playout. The interface is designed to be user-orientated and self-explanatory. Webinars and tutorials are provided for all Streemfire customers.

Video Assets can be uploaded from your computer directly into the Streemfire Asset Management application. Once uploaded, video asset files are automatically encoded into the right format to ensure optimal quality for all playout devices. Your video assets are then stored and made permanently available to you in the cloud.

Once assets are uploaded to the platform, video asset metadata management can be accessed. The metadata management function provides you with a full configuration for editing metadata, including access to descriptions, copyright management, customizable markers and tags, poster frames, and proxy files with frame controls. Additionally, Streemfire stores both the original and encoded files in the cloud, available for download at any time.

How do I search for Video Assets?

Video files can be easily searched for in the Streemfire Video Asset Management Function. This includes filtering your search by tags, markers, and types, as well as simply entering the file’s metadata descriptions into the search bar.

Can I make changes to the playlists in Streemfire?

Channel owners may configure and make changes to their playlists at any time, regardless of whether they are on or offline. Video assets can be added via the 15 drag and drop function, or they can be removed by setting them off air. Playlists are automatically updated through the channel management function. Depending on scheduling requirements, updated playlists may be looped or executed with a hard cut.
