Our paraglider friend Andre Bandarra has been constantly showing tips and tricks to paragliding. Today we’ll get from him two very important tips about strong wind paragliding. As kids, when it was windy, we were used to fly kites, but now the real professional fun is here.
Lean Back
You have to always bear in mind where your grip is. So basically, where your feet are. Remember that the parachute is always pulling you from the middle part of your body, where the carabines are. If you stay up straight, on your feet, it will always pull you up uncontrolled. But if you put your feet ahead of your body and lean back, you will create a stronger base from where to control the paraglider.
If your feet are lied down in front of you, it will be much easier. No need to completely sit. Then you will have the best chance to go with the wind.
Never forget to pull the breaks, though! Breaks are always a crucial instrument when paragliding.

Sideway
Another way that we find useful to move around the field, is to go sideways. Pull the breaks if you want to go down the wind and do a side run getting pulled by the wind. Once it’s high or you want to come down because you are tired or scared, you can pull on the Cs or pull on the Bs. Whatever you do, relying on the breaks won’t do much if the wind is really strong.
